Regularly Scheduled Waterborne Transport
The statistics describe regularly scheduled waterborne public transport, operated by public transport companies under their own auspices and under purely commercial conditions (i.e. no ordered or charter services, which are not regularly scheduled).
The statistics contain information on supply and travel in regularly scheduled commercial waterborne public transport in Sweden. In June 2023, data on regularly scheduled commercial waterborne public transport in Sweden was published for the first time. This survey is part of the product Regional Public Transport. The data can be found in a separate spreadsheet (Excel-format). The documentation of the quality is included in the quality declaration of Regional Public Transport.
Commercial traffic refers to traffic that is not regulated by agreement with the public sector. Commercial traffic is conducted by a transport company, or on behalf of a commercial company, based on purely market-based assessments and without government involvement. However, under the Swedish Public Transport Act (2010:1065), the regional public transport authority must be notified of all public transport, and timetables and stops must be reported to the joint timetable database (GTI) at Samtrafiken AB. This has also applied to waterborne public transport since 1 August 2012. The main purpose of the traffic is to transport passengers on a timetabled line, which is offered continuously and without discrimination.
