Transport policy objectives

Transport Analysis is tasked by the Government with following up transport policy objective on a yearly basis.

Sweden's transport policy goals were presented in Government Bill "Goals for future travel and transport" (Government Bill 2008/09:93) and adopted by the Riksdag in 2009. The goals consist of one overarching goal and two secondary goals.

The secondary goals pertain to accessibility and considerations, and have been laid out in detail in numerous documents.

The goal follow-up process must reflect developments, including those in the year immediately prior. As a result, parts of the report are based on preliminary data and forecasts or extrapolated trends. More up-to-date information will be posted on the Transport Analysis web portal for goal follow-ups as the official statistics become available.

Transport Analysis bases its assessments on a number of follow-up metrics or indicators. These are derived partly from official transport-related statistics for which Transport Analysis is responsible, and partly from data obtained from other authorities and government agencies.
